perform-o-rama

November 13 and 14, 2009, Lake Harriet Players hosted a variety
show on the small stage downstairs at LHUMC - the 3rd annual Perform-O-Rama.
Everybody and anybody is invited to be part of this event. Here are some ways you can get involved next year:

1. SIGN UP TO PERFORM.
Put your name on the list across from the church office (or email Kathy Webb:
kathy.webb@lakeharrietumc.org) No rehearsal. If you need accompaniment email Kathy
to make a plan. We’ve had everything from classical music to hula-hoop yodeling to dog
tricks! We want some things that are silly, some that are serious. Little kids, teens,
families (pets); elders: the whole spectrum is what we’re going for. Just MAKE SURE
your act is no more than three minutes long.
It’s important. (Talk to Kathy if you’re
stuck on that; she can help.)

2. SHOW UP FOR OPEN MIC. New this year!
We are taking a risk that some folks will show up the night/s of the event and surprise us
by signing up for a performance slot! We’re adding a crazy element of unpredictability to
the proceedings. All you need to do is show up at 6:30 and sign in as instructed when you
get there. Make sure your act is no more than three minutes long. If you need
accompaniment bring your music for Kathy at the piano, or on CD for our sound tech.

3. SHOW arts/crafts/visual oddities.
We have a visual arts variety exhibit in the room, too…we love variety and have featured
everything from quilts to props to Lego sculpture. Again, we’re seeking all ages and
levels of fun. (This could include curious objects, too, or creations collected out & about.)
If you want to add something to the gallery (please do), contact Alan Husby:
alan.husby@gmail.com. He’ll let you know how to exhibit – it’s EASY!

4. HELP serve root beer floats!
This event is always an ice cream social. This year it’s root beer floats! And without an
intermission, we’ll need float-makers throughout the evening. We can always use set up
and clean up help, too. For that, please email Annie Harness: aharness@spa.edu.

5. COME TO THE SHOW.

No matter what else you decide to do or have time for. Please come and participate and enjoy. It will be fun and a chance to see many familiar theater community faces. We are not charging any admission or selling anything. We’re going to rely entirely on free will offering, so every person counts. PLEASE COME!!!

6. Any combination of the above!!! THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
